The Rise of the Internet of Things: Connecting Our World One Device at a Time

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the growing network of physical objects that feature an IP address for Internet connectivity and the communication that occurs between these objects, other Internet enabled devices and the backend systems that monitor, manage and support them.  This network is similar to the network associated with mobile phones or the Internet. If you do not analyze, or at the very least do something, with the information produced by and inherent in that network, you are focused only on the operational concepts, such as connectivity between devices (e.g., making a mobile phone call). To take IoT to the next level and fulfill its promise, you need to place into context, potentially analyze and act upon the information from those interconnected devices.
